David’s paternal grandmother was Adele Chernin (the daughter of Samuel Moiseevich Cherninsky, later Samuel Chernin, and of Rose Baumann). Adele was born in New York, to Russian Jewish parents. Samuel was the son of Moshe “Morris” Cherninsky and Ida.
