Josie Maran is an American model, actress, and entrepreneur. She has appeared in the films Van Helsing, Little Black Book, The Aviator, and The Gravedancers.

Her paternal aunt is author Meredith Maran.

She is married to David Belle. Josie has two children with her former partner, Iranian-American photographer Ali Alborzi.

Josie’s paternal grandfather was Sidney M. “Stan” Maran (the son of Jacob Maran and Sophie Geffen). Sidney was born in New York, to a Jewish family. Jacob was born in Russia, the son of Harris Maran and Minnie Lebovitz. Sophie was born in New York, to parents from Russia, Morris Geffen and Lena Shapiro.

Josie’s paternal grandmother is author Rita Maran (born Rita Rudges, the daughter of Louis/Lewis Rudges and Jennie/Jean Ettinger). Rita was born in New York. Louis was born in New York, to Polish Jewish parents, Charles Rudges and Regina Mantchyk. Jennie was born in New York, to German Jewish parents, Simon Ettinger and Sarah Kaplan.

Josie’s maternal grandfather was Henry Herbert Selhorst (the son of Conrad John Selhorst and Ursula Drainer). Henry was born in Illinois. Conrad was born in Illinois, the son of Henry J. Selhorst, who was German, and of Elizabeth Goeddey/Goedde, whose parents were German. Ursula was born in Illinois, the daughter of Peter C. Drainer and Anna Mary Bunse, who were the children of German immigrants.

Josie’s maternal grandmother was Beepske Victoria Brevet (the daughter of Jan Brevet and Cecilia Emilia/Amelia Hillegonda Kerkhoven). Beepske was born in Oregon. Jan was born in Sukabumi, Java, Indonesia. Cecilia was born in California, to Dutch parents, Rudolph Kerkhoven and Hesther Elisabeth Wilhelmina Cartier van Dissel, who was of part French ancestry.
