René Marie Russo is an American actress and model. She began her modeling career in the 1970s, appearing on the covers of magazines such as Vogue and Cosmopolitan. She made her film debut in the 1989 comedy Major League, and gained international fame in a number of horror and action films throughout the 1990s, most notably Lethal Weapon 3, In the Line of Fire, Outbreak, Get Shorty, Ransom, Lethal Weapon 4. and the Thomas Crown case. After drawing attention to the family comedy Yours, Mine and Ours, Russo had a five-year hiatus. She returned to the screen as Frigga, the mother of the iconic hero, in the superhero movie Thor, a role she played in Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Endgame. In 2014, Russo starred in the acclaimed crime thriller Nightcrawler, who won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress and was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has also appeared on The Intern, Just Getting Started and Velvet Buzzsaw.
